What makes you unique? Is it your genetics, or your upbringing? Is it your intellect or your accumulated body and mind? Is it none of it or all of it?
Identity!
What is identity, when I say identity it could be a hundred different qualities that makes you different from everyone else, a unique blend of primary quality, which manifests itself in a million different forms.
Its amazing how understanding your identity can make life so much simpler, lets look into it.
When I say identity, lets keep in mind we all have many identity, its no crazy talk, lets look into it. When you are with parents you are one kind and when you are with your friends you are another, this happens to everyone everytime consciously or unconsciously. Your words are different, your ideas are different, your goals are different, your very energy is different with different group of people, in short you are completely different person according to the surrounding which is indeed important and smart. The problem is when one of ur identity gets a little bit more attached with things around, or when your identity has control over you rather than you being incharge, clinically we term this as stress, anxiety, depression and over thinking. If you can see and solve the identity crisis within yourself, happiness, success and fulfillment are bound to happen.
Lets try to understand this, such that you can practice this theory and try to get back on the driving seat of your faculties.
Imagine you find a dog on a street, you get it home, feed it, bath it and now with time it is a part of your family now, he is happy you are happy, he is sad you are sad and if something happens to him, you are almost dead, see this dog as an example for every different relationship you had throughout your life, the problem is, that now this is no more a dog, its “your” dog and that makes all the difference, now its your attachment that rule your identity when it comes to that dogs, and of course the more you get attached the more that identity will crush and ruin other identities you have to play and bound you to a limited life.
Now let’s just see this same situation from a deeper perspective, you found a dog on street, took him home and took care of him, but this time rather being attached you understand that, now you have a role of taking care of this life, like a nurse, and you want to play that role in the best way possible as you play different role at different times, sometimes as a son, sometimes as a friend and now also like a care taker. This simple understand of life can take away the negative attachment and let you explore and enjoy life to its fullest. Now when the dog will get sick, you won’t be down rather you will play your role to its best and let the rest take care of itself.
It is when you can live like this, completely involved in your role but completely unattached, completely in love with every role you play yet completely open to the uncertainty it brings, you will see that all that matters is how well you play your role….. good bad, reason, purpose all this are just stand points made purely out of human feelings and intellect, none of it matters when you see the bigger picture, when you see that the identity you play is just an necessary tool for the situation you are in, identity has no power over you as it is just an illusion, a temporary form. When you understand this fact, when you consciously get in control of your different identities, you will get closer to your real self.
